LARRY
"What makes a woman marriage material is whether I can envision her as the mother of my children," says
27-year-old Larry. "I was lucky to have a wonderful Mom and I want the same for my children." Born in Texas and now living in North Carolina, this 5'10" NASCAR Winston Cup race car driver describes himself as "patient, a good listener and modest." The ideal woman for this hazel-eyed Pisces? "A cross between Gwyneth Paltrow (too bad she's a vegetarian; I love steak!), Penelope Cruz (although I think she's taken) and Tara Reid (she has the most amazing eyes)," says Larry.
... the FACTS
Born: Houston, TX
Resides: Charlotte, North Carolina
Sign: Pisces
Height: 5' 10"
Hair: Black
Eyes: Hazel
Status: Never married, no children:
Nonsmoker
Education: BS Communications Texas Christian University (2000)
Occupation: NASCAR Winston Cup Driver
... on HIMSELF
Strengths: "For the most part I am patient, a good listener and modest."
Weaknesses: "Probably too nice sometimes and too trusting of people."
What I see in myself that others may not see: "I like to be spontaneous, although my career doesn't always leave time for it. At least once a year I like to wake up, either book a flight or pack the car and take off."
Interests: "I've always liked movies. When I was younger I wanted to be a film director, so now I am getting into digital video with my Mac. I like playing video games (x-box and playstation), and also play in a volleyball league at the YMCA. I like playing golf and tennis when there is time, and jet skiing on the lake."
Turn Ons: "I like intelligent women who can carry on a great conversation and make me laugh. I think it is sexy when a woman is confident, but not conceited."
Turn Offs: "Women who swear consistently."
Charities: "I am the spokesperson for the March for Meals Campaign through Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels benefits the elderly and disabled who cannot leave their homes - the charity delivers meals to them (it's intended to help out their caregivers as well)."
Travels: "I like to travel. When I was living in Texas, I would go to Mexico at least once a year. For New Years 2000, my Mom, cousin, and I went to Italy. We had New Years in Rome, then hit Florence and Venice. I have also been to London, where I met someone, and we ended up dating for three years. Another favorite spot of mine is Jamaica. It is a great place to go and slow down for a bit."
Spirituality: "I was baptized Methodist but went to Episcopalian schools from Kindergarten through high school. Racing every weekend makes it difficult to attend church, but we have a wonderful ministry that travels with us for the racing families."
Fashion Sense: "This can change daily depending on what I have to do. I like Kenneth Cole, Guess jeans, and Steve Madden shoes. On a lazy day ... sweat pants and a T-shirt work just fine."
Staying Healthy: "I have a trainer although he lives in Las Vegas. I see him a couple times a year to check on progress, but I also write down what I eat so he can check on my diet. (Of course I tell him everything). I have never been a big fan of lifting weights, but I try to lift a couple times a week. I also play in a volleyball league."
What touches my soul: "Nothing makes me happier than when someone is in need and I am able to help."
... on WOMEN
The first thing I notice about a woman: "I don't think I notice just one thing. For me it is an entire package that makes the person."
Ideal Woman: "She's smart, makes me laugh and I can be myself around her. The one thing that a woman absolutely must possess is independence. I love it when a woman can command a room, when she can really hold her own and has a strong presence.
I show a woman I care ... "by looking someone I am in love with in the eyes, and saying `I love you' in a way that they can see through me and realize how much I mean it. The phrase `I love you' can be so strong but I think it is over used."
One thing a woman has done for me that has made me melt:
Most important quality in a woman: "Everyone probably says it, but it is definitely honesty."
What makes a woman unforgettable: "Great conversation. I think it is awesome when a woman can make me learn something about myself."
I would never date a woman who ... "swears often."
I wish women understood ... "there are many times we need to be alone to figure something out. Nothing personal, sometimes I just need some alone time."
... on RELATIONSHIPS
Views on relationship/marriage: "I have always been excited about marriage and have tended to have longer relationships. When I was younger I figured I would be married by now, but it hasn't worked out that way. It is not something I want to rush into. There's a part of me that wishes I had someone to share all of these new experiences with - the highs and lows. My parents were high-school
sweethearts. I believe in the notion that everything happens for a reason. You never know who will cross your path or when. I don't think I'm looking to get married right now, but who knows who I may meet tomorrow?"
Top Relationship Keys: "Commitment, honesty and understanding."
My last relationship ... what went wrong: "We are still great friends, but I probably changed. Whether it was for better or worse ... we just grew apart."
A woman who is in a relationship with me can expect ... "that I will try my hardest to make us happy. I'm sure I will fail at times, but I will keep trying."
What I Expect: "Be supportive of me in good times and bad."
What makes me feel close to a woman: "When I begin to know how she is feeling without her having to tell me and vice versa."
What makes a woman marriage material: "Whether I can envision her as the mother of my children. I was lucky to have a wonderful Mom, and I want the same for my children."
... on SEX
How important is sex in a relationship: "It's not everything but I think it is important to be compatible with the one you love. If you're really in love, I don't think that should be hard to do."
Sexiest thing a woman can wear in private is ... "nothing."
... on HIS FAVORITE THINGS
Movie: "I have so many. Sliding Doors, Casablanca, Vanilla Sky and Matrix Reloaded to name a few."
TV Show: "Friends."
Book: "The Fountainhead."
Music: "Depending on my mood, I'll listen to almost anything. I really like James Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Eminem. Being from Texas, I also like good country music. Joe Nichols is the latest country album I bought and he is awesome."
Food: "I love a good filet mignon. My favorite steakhouse is Del Friscos in Fort Worth, TX. When I was in college, I would save for weeks, so I could eat there once a month."
... on LIFE
Responsibility to Society: "Being a race car driver, I see many kids who look up to me. I hope my actions make a good role model for many kids."
Valuable Life Lesson: "You have to take the good with the bad and don't let either one of them overwhelm you. I have found that when bad things happen, if you look hard enough, there is something good you can learn there."
I must ... "get married, coach my kids little league team, win a race at Indy."
Best Advice I've Received: "To be true to anyone, you must first be true to yourself."
... final THOUGHTS
Wheels: "I'm in the market for a car now actually. Any suggestions? I have a Harley-Davidson V-rod that I love."
Hottest Possession: "V-rod, or my plasma TV."
I would like to change places for 24 hours with ... "Tom Cruise. He is my favorite actor, so it would be cool to see what a day in his life would be like."
Why I'm such a great catch: "I feel like I am a happy person and more than anything I want to make the girl of my dreams happy."
Me in a word: "Blessed."
